Privacy policy

Effective date: October 17, 2026

This policy explains what information plainbottalk.com ("the site") and the Plain Bot Talk newsletter collect, and what happens to it. Short version: we collect as little as possible, we don't sell it, and you can leave at any time.

What we collect

  • Newsletter signups. If you subscribe, we collect your email address (and your first name if you choose to give it). Signups are handled by our email provider, Kit (kit.com), which stores this data for us and records basic email activity such as opens, clicks and unsubscribes so we can see what's useful. We use double opt-in: you have to confirm by email before you're added.
  • Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write.
  • Basic technical data. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell, rent or trade your email address.
  • We don't add you to the list from any other source. You're only on it if you signed up.
  • The site itself sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The "copy prompt" buttons run in your browser and send nothing to us.

Third-party services

  • Kit (newsletter). Its own privacy policy applies to the data it processes: kit.com/privacy.
  • Cloudflare (hosting): cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
  • YouTube. Links on this site go to YouTube, which has its own privacy policy. If we embed a video later, YouTube may set cookies when you play it, and we'll use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode where possible.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address while you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, you stop getting emails right away. Ask us and we'll delete your details from our list.

Your choices and rights

Every email has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you by emailing hello@plainbottalk.com. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have extra rights, and we'll honor them.

Children

The site and newsletter are meant for adults and aren't directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. Big changes will be mentioned in the newsletter.
